Import into Final Cut Pro

Bring your captions to your video timeline

Locate the FCPXML file

Find the .fcpxml file in your ~/Downloads folder.

What is FCPXML? An XML document that describes Final Cut Pro projects, events, and media. Capti generates an FCPXML file containing title clips for each caption.

Double click to import in Final Cut Pro

Double-click the .fcpxml file. Final Cut Pro will launch automatically.

You can also import directly inside Final Cut Pro: File > Import > XML...

Select Library

A dialog appears asking where to import:

  • Select a library from the dropdown (or create new)
  • Click Import

Final Cut Pro creates a new event containing your captions project.

Open the Timeline

In the new event, you'll see a project (timeline icon):

  • Click on the project to open it in the timeline

Select All Titles

With the timeline open:

  • Press Cmd+A to select all title clips
  • Press Cmd+C to copy them

Go to Your Main Timeline

Switch to your main project timeline where you want to add captions.

Arrow Bar

You can switch timeline using arrow buttons < timeline_name > on top of the timeline.

Paste

  • Place the playhead at the very start of your timeline (or wherever you want captions to begin)
  • Press Cmd+V to paste the title clips

Next steps

Your captions are now on your timeline, synced to the original timing. You can:

  • Adjust position if needed
  • Modify individual titles
  • Export your final video

If timing is slightly off, ensure your project frame rate matches the frame rate you selected in Capti's export settings.
