Final Cut Pro Import
Issues importing captions into FCP
Captions Don't Sync with Video
Frame Rate Mismatch
Most common cause. Your FCP project and export must use the same frame rate.
Solutions:
- Check your FCP project frame rate (File > Project Properties)
- Re-export from Capti with matching frame rate
- Common frame rates: 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 30
Starting Position
Captions export starting at 00:00:00:00 (zero timecode).
Solutions:
- Place playhead at start of your timeline before pasting
- If video starts later, manually adjust caption position
- Select all captions (Cmd+A) and drag to correct position
Timecode Issues
Solutions:
- Verify timecode format matches (Drop Frame vs Non-Drop Frame)
- Check timecode start in both Capti and FCP
- Use relative positioning for easier alignment
FCPXML Won't Import
Final Cut Pro does not open when double clicking on the FCPXML file
Solution: Import directly inside Final Cut Pro: File > Import > XML...
"File Could Not Be Imported" Error
Solutions:
- Check Final Cut Pro version (requires 10.4+)
- Try opening XML in a text editor to verify it's valid
- Re-download the file (may have corrupted)
- Contact support with the error message
Library Selection Dialog Won't Appear
Solutions:
- Ensure at least one library is open in FCP
- Create a new library if none exist
- Restart Final Cut Pro
